Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from
Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands as well as an
International Baccalaureate English A2 Higher Level Diploma for
near-native proficiency in English.
At age 18, Dennis had developed the #1 selling iPhone application
in the Netherlands, “Trein.” It allowed train commuters to get
real-time delay and disturbance information and has tens of
thousands of users in addition to having won many awards and was
featured in Apple Insider.
Today, Dennis has moved to California to work at Digital
Deployment. When not working, Dennis enjoys playing piano and
volunteer teaching yoga.
We’ve been doing a lot of traveling recently, and last week was
our engineers’ turn. Jason and I attended all three days of
sessions at DrupalCon 2017, and we returned to Sacramento with
tons of new ideas. Seeing how other agencies solve the same
problems we face is inspiring and validating. Being in touch with
what’s happening in the Drupal community and what the large
players are up to is critical to ensuring the work we do for our
clients is future-proof.
Over the last few months, we have been working on all aspects of
your site and infrastructure to make secure connections using
HTTPS (SSL) possible. Your CMS and our servers have already been
updated to be HTTPS-ready, and we have built the internal tools
to allow us to automatically generate and renew free SSL
certificates for you. For the last piece of the puzzle, we are
working with our hosting provider on reconfiguring our load
balancers. This is taking longer than expected, so we are
adjusting our planned HTTPS rollout from April to May.
Digital Deployment will implement Apache Solr to completely
replace the standard search functionality of Drupal with a vastly
superior set of capabilities. The scope of work will include the
implementation, integration, and configuration of Apache Solr, a
popular, powerful enterprise search platform.
You may have heard about the recent release of Drupal 8 and
wondered how this affects you. We are currently evaluating how to
best evolve your website platform to continue to empower you to
communicate online, and will consider all options.
We are now even more connected to what’s happening within our
community of clients! We’ve built a mission control-style
status dashboard with a little computer called a Raspberry Pi,
and we’re planning to expand to several big monitors mounted on a
wall in our office.
We’re now able to track many things happening on your site, right
as they are happening; things like page views, number of posts
edited, searches performed, webforms submitted, and more. This
data helps us understand how to better serve you and your
A major vulnerability in the technology that powers encryption
across much of the internet was discovered this week. Like many
other companies, we took immediate action to ensure our
infrastructure and customers’ websites were safe.
After attending the TEDx Sacramento
morning salon a couple weeks ago, it’s safe to say we’re
hooked. We heard there was an evening salon coming up and we were
all excited to attend.
The evening salon last night had a very inspiring theme – “From
Struggle to Strength.” We had the opportunity to view three
videos, listen to a fantastic band, and (the best part) watch
